The Scadding Cabin
John Scadding, Lieutenant-Governor John Graves Simcoe's estate manager and clerk, built this historic home in 1794. The one-room log cabin, Toronto's oldest house, contains several pieces of furniture attributed to the Simcoes. Other items on display include a 1795 cradle, a chair from Scarborough's first settler, Mary Thompson and other pre-Confederation furnishings. During the Canadian National Exhibition, costumed interpreters provide information and some demonstrations of spinning, tatting and other domestic arts.
