Uxbridge Historical Centre (Museum and Archives) Exhibition

Their Votes Counted
Until August 26, 2018 (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

The Uxbridge Historical Centre invites you to attend our new exhibition Their Votes Counted which proudly celebrates the 100th anniversary of women voting for the first time in a Canadian Federal Election.

In 1917 a temporary wartime measure extended the vote to all those serving overseas with the Canadian military – including female Nursing Sisters. When Canadian women returned home from war, they expected the same rights in peacetime as they had been granted in wartime. In 1919, the right to vote was extended to all eligible Canadian women 21 years of age or older.

The Canadian Nurses Association partnered with the Victoria County Historical Society to create the exhibition Their Votes Counted. This travelling exhibition will be at the Uxbridge Historical Centre from June 2 until August 26. Come take a tour during our hours of Wednesday – Sunday 10-4. Regular admission fees apply.
