Whitehern Historic House & Garden Event

Learn about the McQuestens’ experiences navigating mental illness in the late 19^th and early 20^th centuries through the life of Margaret Edna, the youngest McQuesten daughter. Using archival resources, the tour will discuss some of their mental health experiences, coping mechanisms, and the family support.  We will talk about caregiver fatigue, societal stigma, and how socio-economic status affects access to resources. The tour will be followed by a wellness activity in the Whitehern gardens. Please be advised that this tour will include mature topics.
