Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is 301-bed internationally recognized psychiatric hospital and forensic mental health research facility located on the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay in the Town of Penetanguishene.

Waypoint has two primary exhibit spaces including the Remembering Oak Ridge Digital Archive and Exhibit, and Waypoint’s History Walk. The Remembering Oak Ridge Digital Archive and Exhibit serves to preserve and share the forensic history of the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care with a web-based digital exhibit where artefacts, photographs, and archival documents are used to demonstrate how treatment practices, security restrictions, and individual experiences both changed and remained consistent from the division's opening in 1933 until the closure of the Oak Ridge building in 2014. In addition to this, Waypoint’s History Walk is a guided or self-guided tour that allows individuals the opportunity to walk through the public spaces of three Waypoint buildings to learn more about their history. The History Walk was originally launched in 1992 through the efforts of hospital staff and volunteers, and was expanded in 2016. On this tour you can find historical artefacts, photographs and timelines that unveil Waypoint’s rich history.
