The RCR Museum provides an education program during the academic year as follows (booking in advance):

Find the Star (90 mins) - $4 per student

General tour of the museum and Wolseley Barracks grounds focuses on the history of the Royal Canadian Regiment. A briefing is provided at the beginning, and then the students and their chaperons are invited to visit on their own by using a scavenger hunt provided by the museum. Visit of the grounds is on a weather-permitting basis.

Symbols of Canada (90 mins) - $6 per student

This program focuses on the Canadian symbols since the Confederation. While touring the museum and the grounds at Wolseley Barracks, the students will re-discover the iconic Maple Leaf and Beaver along with other symbols that accompanied the glorious Canadian military since 1867. Age specific activities may also be included.

Conflict and Change (90 mins) - $6 per student

Explore Canadian and local military history at the Royal Canadian Regiment Museum. Students will learn about major military operations at home and overseas. The program can be tailored to the era of your choice, starting in 1863 and to the present day.

Find the Star, Activities & Drill (120 mins) - $7 per student

General tour of the museum and grounds focuses on the history of the Royal Canadian Regiment. A drill exercise in the Parade Square will introduce the students to the military life, a tour guide will accompany the group in their quest throughout the museum and deliver specific activities.

We Will Remember Them (120 mins) - $7 per student

This tour is ideal for October - November. Follow in the footsteps of the Royal Canadian Regiment and discover the significance of Remembrance Day through medals and memorials. A veteran will be available to engage with the students. This tour may be adapted to any time of the year to coincide with other important celebrations.

Army Life (120 mins) - $7 per student

Students compare and contrast the lifestyle and equipment of WWII soldiers to those of the late 20th century through examination of artefacts and information collected during the museum tour. A drill exercise in the Parade Square will introduce the students to the military life.

Changes in technology are also emphasized.

Backwards in Time (120 mins) - $7 per student

Tour the main level galleries then head to second floor backwards, that is begin the tour by turning left instead of right. Proceed through Infantry gallery to Afghanistan, Communications, Cold War, and Peace Keeping. Finish in Education Gallery with an activity tailored to your students’ needs.

Day at the Museum (240 mins) - $8 per student

Students will spend the day at the museum with the time divided between touring the museum and grounds in the morning, and participating in a selection of activities in the afternoon. A drill exercise in the Parade Square will introduce the students to the military life.
