An iconic artefact that was presented to The RCR in the early 1930s, the Flanders Fields Cross has always hung in the archway entrance. Before 2009, this space was open, for the troops to march in and out the Parade Square. Today, the Flanders Field Cross is featured in the same space, converted in the museum foyer. The Cross has a special meaning as it shows teh names of 22 men and officers that made teh supreme sacrifice during the battle of Mont Sorrel (Belgium), 2 to 17 June 1916. They were all enrolled with The RCR and this was the first combat engagement of the regiment during the First World War.
