Working Together ad Returning History: Archaeological Digs in Treaty #3
Jusqu'au August 31, 2020

“Working Together and Returning History: Archaeological Digs in Treaty 3” explores how two archaeological digs demonstrate the changing relationship between Indigenous communities and archaeology.

This exhibit explores the history of the Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung traditional burial grounds and how artifacts that were removed in the 1950s to 1970s have been repatriated back to Rainy River First Nations. This process is compared to the collaboration which has been happening between Eagle Lake First Nations and an archaeologist, who are working together and have been doing archaeological digs in 2018 and 2019.

This exhibit was originally scheduled for March 5th to May 6th, due to COVID-19 we were required to close. As Ontario is now into Phase 2 we are allowed to have visitors and this exhibit has been extended to be on display over the summer.
