The Agnes Etherington Art Centre’s mission is to acquire works of art in the public trust for the enjoyment of its public, and to further the cause of art in the community. This mission statement is interpreted to drive an ambitious slate of exhibitions and public programs and a healthy program of collections-building, all of which we regard as fundamental to our service to the community. Collection strengths: Canadian historical and contemporary art; 17th-century Dutch painting from the Bader Collection; the Lang Collection of West African sculpture; concentrations of Canadian and European works on paper; Inuit art, Canadian dress, quilts, glass and silver. Activities: Publications; public programs including artists' talks, lectures, symposia, gallery talks, family and school programs, opening receptions; facilities rentals; the Gallery Shop and Art Rental and Sales.
