Remembrance Day Program
Jusqu'au November 11, 2019 (9:30 AM - 5:00 PM)

Commemorate our veterans with guided tours through the gallery. We’ll share the impacts of war, and the sacrifices of those who have served our country.  At 11 a.m., observe our Remembrance Day service in our permanent gallery.

Event schedule:

11:00 a.m. - Remembrance Day Observance. This will take place at the War Memorial on the Mezzanine. This is a short (approximately 10 minutes) service based upon the guidelines set out by Veterans Affairs Canada.

11:15 p.m. - Tours of the long-term gallery with a focus on Waterloo County/Region’s war efforts.

1:00 p.m. - World War I activity in the long-term gallery.  Discover the stories of how specific local residents served King and Country during WWI.

2:00 p.m. - Featured speaker, Professor Geoff Hayes will deliver his talk, “First Canadian Army: Keeping the Morale alive.”  This talk will focus on the many ways, from cigarettes to mail, from court martials to painted roofs, that army officials tried to keep morale up during the Second World War. This talk will take place in the Christie Theatre.
